ECOBUDS™ USER GUIDE, TROUBLESHOOTING & FAQS
INITIAL POWER ON & CHARGING:
Power On:
To turn your earbuds ON for the first time, make sure both earbuds are in the charging dock, then plug the integrated USB-C cable into a charging device, such as a computer/laptop, wall charger, portable charger, or even a USB-C equipped cell phone. When the LED on each earbud turns on you can remove the earbuds from the dock.
Your earbuds will automatically turn ON.
They’ll automatically turn OFF when you put them back in the dock.
To turn your earbuds OFF outside of the charging dock, tap the skull logo on each earbud 2 times, then hold for 1 second. (Tap and release, Tap and release, press and hold for 1 second)
To turn them back ON, press each earbud for 1 second.
Charging:
Don’t let the battery-free charging dock worry you — EcoBuds are packing a full 8 hours of play time on a single charge.
Plus, they feature Rapid Charging: a 10-minute charge provides more than 2 hours of listening time.
To charge your earbuds, place them in the charging dock then plug the integrated USB-C cable into a power source.
Bonus — EcoBuds charge straight from your USB-C equipped phone, so you may already be carrying a charger around with you!
To check battery life, place the earbuds into the charging dock. The earbud LED color will show the charge level:
Pulsing amber = 0-74% charge
Pulsing white = 75-95% charge
Solid white = 95-100% charge
EARBUDS OR CASE NOT CHARGING PROPERLY?
Issue: Not seeing the earbud LED indicator on the buds when you’ve placed your EcoBuds back into the charging dock and when your USB-C cable is plugged in?
Solution:
- Check to see if any debris is blocking the charging pins in the dock, on the earbud, or in the USB-C plug or port.
- Check to see if the removable ear gels have been twisted or are falling off. This could be keeping the buds from sitting correctly in the case. If you’re having a hard time closing the lid completely, it is likely because the earbuds are not set correctly or the gels are interfering.
- Make sure the integrated charging cable is properly inserted into a suitable power source.
- Check the earbud LED once plugged in to ensure the earbud is taking a charge.
INITIAL PAIRING:
Quick Start Version: (First time pairing out of the box)
- To pair your earbudse to your device for the first time, ensure boh earbuds are in the charging dock and plug the integrated USB-C cable into a power source. Please make sure both earbud LEDs pulse either amber or white, and then remove both earbuds from the case to auto power on and begin the simple pairing process.
- A tone will indicate your earbuds have powered on and a voice prompt will say “Ready to Pair” as the earbud LEDs begin to flash white. Both earbuds are now in pairing mode.

- Select “EcoBuds” and accept the “Pair” or “OK” prompt that appears on your screen. When pairing is complete, a voice prompt will say “Connected.”

- If you are currently connected to a device and have it nearby, you can also manually disconnect the Bluetooth on your device and your earbuds will enter directly into pairing mode as well.
- This will also disconnect you from your previously paired device and your earbud LEDs will begin to flash white.
- Open up your device’s Bluetooth settings and look for “EcoBuds” in your list of available Bluetooth devices.
- Select “EcoBuds” and accept the “Pair” or “OK” prompt that appears on your screen. When pairing is complete, a voice prompt will say “Connected.”

EcoBuds media controls are ready to keep you connected and in control of your Bluetooth enabled device.

Music Mode is the default EQ setting, and is great for general listening.
Bass Boost Mode increases the low frequencies for a bass-heavy audio experience.
Podcast Mode removes most of the bass response and is great for podcasts or audio books.
ACTIVATE YOUR VOICE ASSITANT
Who do you ask for help? Siri? Bixby? Google Assistant? Unlike proprietary earbuds, Skullcandy earbuds work with any assistant.
Simply tap the touch sensor on the left earbud four times to activate your device’s local assistant.
SOLO MODE:
Sometimes you want to be able to hear your music, but still hear what’s going on around you. When you want to do that, you can use just one earbud.
We call this Solo Mode. Both the left and right earbud of EcoBuds can be used in Solo Mode.
To use Solo Mode when you’ve previously paired to your earbuds, simply remove either earbud from the charging dock and that earbud will function with both phone calls and music.
If you are initially pairing only one earbud, simply follow the same initial pairing steps above and you’re good to go.
To use both earbuds again, simply remove the other earbud from the dock at any time, you will hear the power on “ping” tone, and your audio will begin to stream seamlessly back into Stereo Mode.
FIT:
EcoBuds fit comfortably and securely in your ear. Here’s how to get the best fit.
First, place the earbud in your ear at an angle, then rotate minimally to the front or back to secure in place. Your earbud should feel comfortable and stable.
For optimal acoustic performance, you also want to be sure your ear gel creates a nice seal just inside your canal.
EcoBuds comes with three sizes of ear gels to help you find the best fit. Try each size provided to see which fit works best for you.
